"This is the holy grail of writing advice, so far as I'm concerned. This book taught me that everything I had previously written stank, then taught me how not to stink anymore. I firmly recommend this book. If you're writing, stop! Right now. Read this book. Then go back, fix your mistakes, and emerge a new writer. The one downside? It just might turn you into a bit of a writing snob. Don't be that guy."More info →
"This book will help you write that first chapter, and every chapter after that. An excellent resource. It also has exercises at the end of each chapter (which admittedly I didn't do, but I still got a lot out of the book). If you've started writing, stop. Read this, go back, fix, then continue."More info →
"Okay, so this one's not absolutely necessary, but it's still worth a read. It's humorous and informative, and can help you get over some of the expectations you might feel as a writer. It's a simple, down to earth read, and we found it a good respite from some of the heavier stuff on our list of recommendations."More info →
"This will teach you story theory. It's a condensed version of Joseph Campbell's "The Hero's Journey," which is like 18,000 books. Okay, so maybe that's hyperbole. But still...this should be all you need."More info →
"This is a time commitment and (admittedly) an expensive one. But if you can afford it, answer all the questions. 120 hours later, it will be worth it. This software steps you through all the philosophy of story and will help you plan out every minute detail, character, chapter, and scene of your book."More info →
"This is the tool that I use for writing. I used to compile my ebooks with this, but I recently switched to a new application. That said it has serious compiling features: ebooks, manuscripts, print books, etc. But that's not why I use it. I use it as a writing processor. It's a clean interface with fantastic organizational features. Honestly, there are more features available than I currently utilize, but my goal is to tap into those sooner rather than later. Definitely give this software a spin."More info →
